Logging meals
The three ways to add food — search, barcode and photo.
Logging what you eat is fast, and there's always a method that fits the moment. All methods calculate macros automatically and add them to your day.
Food search
The most direct way:
- In the Diet tab, choose the meal and tap +.
- Type the food's name.
- Select the result and adjust the quantity.
Search combines three sources, in priority order — a Portuguese local database, FatSecret and Open Food Facts — for maximum coverage and national localization.

Barcode scanning
For packaged products:
- Tap the scan icon when adding a food.
- Point the camera at the barcode (omnidirectional reading).
- The product is identified and the macros filled in automatically.
For barcode reading, FatSecret is queried first and Open Food Facts acts as a global fallback.
If a product isn't found, you can add it manually. In the case of Open Food Facts, the database is collaborative and open.
Photo analysis
Don't know the exact values? Photograph the plate — this is the multimodal flow:
- Tap the camera icon and take a photo of the meal.
- The image is sent to MacroAI (Gemini 2.5 Flash), configured to respond in a strict JSON schema.
- The model returns the identified foods; the app normalizes the values (calories and macros proportional to the portion).
- Confirm or adjust before saving.
Photo recognition is ideal for meals eaten out or composite dishes. → How it works under the hood: AI and automation.
Adjusting quantities
After adding, macros update in real time as you change the quantity. The rings on the Home tab reflect the change instantly.
